PRESENTERS
Joel Schwartz - P.Eng., FEC, BEP, Principal - JRS Engineering
Joel is a Principal and Senior Building Science Specialist at JRS Engineering, with 25 years of building science and building envelope consulting experience throughout Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest of the US. He is responsible for Canadian operations and is the Managing Principal of the Vancouver office.
Joel’s interest in buildings and improving the built environment led him to pursue a civil engineering degree (structures) from McGill University and eventually the founding of JRS Engineering. Joel’s work focuses on the importance of high-performance and durable building envelopes; combining new technology with past experience.
His reputation as a leading building science expert and passion for sharing knowledge have led to numerous featured presentations at seminars and conferences for a variety of associations, including EGBC, RCI, ICBEST, NBEC, the BC Building Envelope Council and the Seattle Building Envelope Council. Joel currently sits on the EGBC Building Enclosure Committee, is past president of the BC Building Envelope Council (BCBEC) and has served on EGBC’s Consulting Practice Committee. Registered in BC and Alberta, he has been inducted as a Fellow of the Engineers of Canada for his many contributions to the engineering profession.
