Founded in 1944, NSF International is a non-profit organization that develops national standards, product certification and education for public health and safety. It is also widely recognized for its scientific and technical expertise in health and environmental discipline. NSF operates with state of the art testing facilities and accredited laboratories worldwide. Every year NSF audit staff conducts tens of thousands inspections in countries all over the world.
NSF offers certification programs that benefit regulators, consumers and manufacturers. The two former groups can be assured that a credible, objective and independent party endorsed by public health officials has tested and verified that products comply with specific standards set out by the NSF Committee. Manufacturers who participate in the NSF Certification program agree to rigorous testing, annual retesting, inspections and audits. Participation and test success demonstrates the manufacturers’ competence to produce products that perform according to recognized standards.
These standards specify the requirements and include criteria relating to material, design, construction and performance.
Kryton International Inc.’s line of Krystol products has achieved certification to NSF/ANSI Std. 61: Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects.
These specifications determine whether products are suitable and safe for use in potable water applications. Primarily, Krystol-treated samples are tested for presence of heavy metals and organic chemicals that may be a concern to public health at certain dosage levels.
