Architects can be sued for design flaws in San Francisco

Beacon Residential CommunityA San Francisco luxury condominium complex has its owners furious at design flaws caused by the architect’s design of the building units. The San Francisco condominium owners association accuses the architects of design flaws that caused overheating and structural defects.

It appears they have a strong case against the architects –

California-based Law Office, Peck Law Group, states on their website “Professional negligence can arise at any time when a professional has caused harm or damage to another through their professional actions or service.”

They also list that damages may include the following:

  • Lost wages and medical costs—if another person’s professional negligence led to you becoming injured and not able to work
  • The financial reimbursement of all services performed
  • Compensation for the value of the work that you hired the professional to perform
  • Property damages
  • Other damages

The suit by the owners association, filed in 2008, alleges that units overheated because of defective ventilation and window design, and also claimed instances of water infiltration, structural cracks and other hazards.
