The American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) Spring Convention descends on Kansas City, Missouri from April 12th to 16th. This is expected to be a fantastic event heading into a fantastic city with rich architecture and culture.
As is the case with every single ACI convention, in the United States or abroad, there are many educational offerings that are must for concrete professionals hoping to stay at the forefront of the industry. Not to mention the fact that the convention also provides a platform to provide input on the concrete industry’s codes, specifications, and guides.
Kryton’s President & CEO, Kari Yuers, as Chair of the International Committee for the ACI, is excited to have Yilmaz Akkaya as the speaker for the International Lunch. Akkaya is the Professor and Head of Concrete Unit at Istanbul Technical University and will be giving a presentation titled, “Crossing the Bosphorus in Istanbul: Bridges, Tunnels and a lot of Concrete.” Currently, Turkey has four cities ranking in The World’s 10 Fastest-Growing Metropolitan Areas, with Istanbul ranking 3rd. Akkaya will be able to bring a lot of perspective on what Istanbul is doing with regards to concrete building in the region.
Along with the sessions and speakers, companies will also be exhibiting, including a booth displaying Kryton and our Krystol Technology. As always the ACI committees will be meeting to develop the standards, reports and documents as the industry changes globally. These meetings are open to all registered attendees, allowing a unique opportunity to become part of the process. Apparently, Kansas City is also known as the City of Fountains and the ACI is taking advantage of these concrete wishing wells. They are offering a Kansas City Fountains tour, which will highlight the function of concrete. This tour is just one of the many networking events made available to attendees.
Yuers will also be hosting the 3rd annual Tequila Open golf tournament at Falcon Lakes Golf Club. This will be the biggest of the 3 events with the competitive nature of the tournament ramping up. The winner will have bragging rights for the next year.
