BCBEC Elements Magazine: People Power

The British Columbia Building Envelope Council (BCBEC) has stepped into the world of publishing with their inaugural edition of BCBEC Elements magazine.

The BCBEC has been around for the past 26 years, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders within the industry. The council is composed of representatives in government, manufacturers, construction associations, contractors, educators, and consultants. Currently, there are about 350 members that gather at luncheons and different building envelope science conferences throughout the year.

Now the council has moved into the world of publishing, providing the specialized industry with a magazine hitting on the important issues and innovations within the industry. As education and learning is one of the pillars for which BCBEC was founded, the magazine will serve as an outlet for industry members to receive up-to-date, relevant building envelope news.

The inaugural issue highlighted many different key talking points and ideas, including the history of the BCBEC, information of strata depreciation reports and even a case study on the green building practices used at the new Mountain Equipment Co-op head office in Vancouver. Among those articles is a feature on Kryton President & CEO, Kari Yuers and the last 42 years of Kryton International Inc.

Questions on the challenges of pushing for innovation, doing business globally from British Columbia, and why Kryton was named as one of the best companies to work for 4-years in a row are all answered. Kari also gives her opinion on what exactly makes a good CEO.
