Pipe Penetration Leak Causes Headaches

Devils Lake FloodIn North Dakota, an incorrectly installed pipe penetration in their East Devils Lake Outlet forced the pipeline to be shut down earlier this month. A lot of water had leaked out and caused some erosion.

Workers then had to come in to repair the damage to the outlet, as well as the damage caused by the erosion. Work needed to be done quickly, as the outlet’s purpose is to prevent the quickly rising Devils Lake, from spilling uncontrollably into the Sheyenne River. This would be a catastrophic event for communities located downstream.

This pipe penetration could be fixed using the Krystol Crack Repair System. Krystol Plug is an applicator-friendly fast setting plug, that will stop the flow around the pipe. By applying Krystol Bari-Cote and Krystol T1 after that, the crystals will be able to react to the water, and stop the leaking. This seal will last the lifetime of the structure, as the crystals will lie dormant until re-introduced to water.
