Waterproofing Edmonds Community Centre

Pool-Preproduction1 Inside Edmonds Community Centre during construction

A couple of years ago, The City of Burnaby, during a time of revitalization, decided to upgrade the Community Centre situation in Edmonds Town Centre.

Edmonds was a neighborhood with no public swimming pool and had been in the midst of revitalization for some time. The City of Burnaby decided to build an 85, 000 square foot Centre, featuring a leisure pool, 6-lane lap pool,   lounges, two gyms and an indoor playground. With the emergence of the Edmonds Community Centre, it not only has a public pool for the first time in the community’s existence, but indeed one of the nicest.

However with a project of this nature, the lasting life of the structure built must be taken into account – the longer the life, the better the investment, the more sustainable the project. Thus, a durable concrete waterproofing method was needed, which is where Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane was used, as well as our Krystol Waterstop and Krystol Crack Repair Systems.

With the continuing heat experienced so far this summer, it’s a good thing the Community Centre took the time to waterproof the concrete properly, ensuring a safe-haven for those trying to beat the heat.
