Kari Yuers Named Director for Vancouver Board of Trade

Kryton President & CEO, Kari Yuers’ profile has continued to grow since joining Kryton International back in 1991.

Ten years later she became President & CEO of the company, earning different accolades since, like the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2003, Awards of Merit and Professional Achievement from the American Concrete Institute in 2005 and Construction Specifications Canada in 2002 and 2004. Kari has also been recognized with an Influential Woman in Business Award in 2012, and for 4 consecutive years, Kryton was named one of the Best Companies to work for.

Kari volunteers her time and energy for many different organizations, which currently include:

  • Competitiveness BC Leadership Panel - A provincially funded committee responsible for identifying and addressing the most pressing issues affecting BC’s competitiveness and capacity for innovation
  • Premier's Women's Economic Council (PWEC) - Appointed by the Premier of BC, PWEC offers advice to the Premier, the Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, the Minister responsible for Labour, the Minister of State for Tourism and Small Business with regard to issues, strategies, policy changes and potential actions to tap into economic opportunities for women that will help strengthen BC’s economy
  • President’s Group - Appointed by the Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation, this group acts as an advisory committee of prominent business leaders in B.C. with a commitment to championing employment and consumer opportunities and improved outcomes for people with disabilities

Further to these roles, Kari was named to the Vancouver Board of Trade’s board of directors earlier Friday morning. She will be part of a directorship that will have more women on the board than men for the first time in the VBOT’s 128 year history. Further, the VBOT will also be Canada’s first major business organization with more women than men on its board of directors.
